Chad Oberholtzer

Chad Oberholtzer was born and raised in Lancaster County, before making his way to Happy Valley to attend Penn State in the late '90s, where he met his eventual wife, Kate, in a Christian choir. After Chad taught high school chemistry and coached volleyball in Texas, they returned to State College, working together for many years as part of the staff team at Calvary, during which time Chad started to find and develop his passions in ministry and completed a Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Seminary. Chad joined the State College Alliance Church staff team in 2012 when he spent two years as the campus pastor with Alliance Christian Fellowship, eventually transitioning into his current role as the Associate Pastor of Discipleship, where he is delighted to provide direct leadership to the Community Groups ministry, the Classic Christian Book Club, and church communications, as well as providing support to the staff and volunteers who lead the Men's and Women's Ministries, 20/30 Connect, Prime Timers, Hospitality Teams, and NextGen discipleship ministries

During his free time, Chad enjoys officiating volleyball, reading old books, watching slow movies, playing golf, tennis, and volleyball poorly, drinking chocolate milk, writing Amazon reviews, clipping coupons, and playing Trivial Pursuit. But his greatest earthly joys are long conversations with Kate, impassioned discussions with Julia, epic dances with Eliza, colossal wrestling matches with Caleb, and road trips with the whole clan.
