Parents, we invite you to join us in a special series in February called GEAR UP: Tools for Life. Through the month, we will be learning some central verses from the Bible and hearing from some expert tour guides as we learn about four really important "Tools" for a meaningful, Christ-centered life:

  • The Gospel,
  • Worship,
  • Evangelism,
  • Missions

Each week, we will be providing materials on this page to continue the conversation at home. We hope that this gives you as parents your own tools you can use to help your family learn more about the Christian faith and how we can each live it out as God has called us. If you have any questions or if there is any way we can support you in this journey, please don't hesitate to contact Bill Jester at bill@scalliancechurch.com. We also hope to celebrate with you the big things that God is doing in your family, so let us know if you have any stories to share!

Week 4: Missions

This week we wrapped up our "Gear Up" series by talking about the "M" in CMA -- Missions! We even had some special guests stop by to share their experience and calling from God. Whether God is calling you and your kids to serve him in your neighborhood, school, community, or "to the ends of the earth", we hope that everyone gained a fresh perspective on what it means to be on mission for God! Click below for some discussion starters on this and some ideas to wrap up the "Gear Up" series.

Week 3: Evangelism

This week in Gear Up, we talked about evangelism, pointing others to Jesus by our words and actions. We learned that evangelism is a calling on all of our lives, not just pastors, missionaries, and Sunday School teachers. Click below for more details on what we discussed in our Large Group and Small Group times and some discussion prompts you can use to continue the conversation at home.

Week 2: Worship

This week in our Gear Up series, we learned about Worship, what is is, why we do it, and how it can help us live a meaningful and purposeful life. The main topics we discussed in our Large Group and Small Group time were:

  • We were CREATED to worship God.
  • That WHAT we worship really matters.
  • That we can worship God with our WHOLE LIVES not just with singing.

We hope you will continue this conversation at home this week using some of these resources:

Worship Playlist

A Spotify playlist with some songs we've sung this month and in the past in Route 252. The first 3 songs we've been singing together this month and will be a part of the worship set on February 25 when Route 252 will be joining in the 2nd worship service!

Week 1: The Gospel

We started our "Gear Up" series in the most important way we could, with a straightforward sharing of the Gospel message. The Gospel, or Good News, tells of God's love for humankind all the way from creation to the present day, and was described in Romans 1:16 as "the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes."  It is our hope that every child and leader who heard this Gospel message in Route 252, whether for the first time or the hundredth, experienced this "power of God" and can put their faith fully in Him, if they haven't already.

This week is a great opportunity to explore the Gospel message with your kids more. While we love sharing the story of God's love here at Route 252, we especially love hearing about kids and families growing closer to Jesus through conversation, prayer, and Bible reading at home. Below are two simple resources you can use to discuss the Gospel message using the same words we used in our Large and Small Groups this weekend. Even if your child has already put their faith in Jesus, I encourage you to use these resources to talk about it together in hopes that God will reveal something fresh from this amazing story.
