When was Jesus born? Who where the wisemen and where were they from? What was the Star they saw “in the east?" Is Matthew’s account of the Nativity fact or fiction? During this presentation, Dr. Dan Russell will answer these questions and more. We’ll learn some history of King Herod and the Roman and Parthian empires. We’ll see how the constellations of the Zodiac connect to the tribes of Israel. We’ll discover a star map hidden within a painting in a Roman catacombs and ancient Chinese astronomical charts which explain how “a star shall come forth from Jacob." And, we’ll observe a sequence of astronomical events involving the Lion of Judah which tie together prophecies from the Old Testament, John’s gospel, and Revelation to provide a plausible explanation for the Star the Magi followed to Bethlehem.
